AnCnoc 16 year old is the big brother of the 12 year old with more maturity it shows hints of buttery toffee and spice, absolutely delightful.
AnCnoc is a single malt whisky from the Knockdhu distillery. The distillery lies in the village of Knock which lies beneath the 1200 ft Knock Hill,
the source of the distilleries water. The distillery was built in 1893 and started production in 1894. It has two stills which in 1966 were converted to mechanical stoking. Like many distilleries it closed in 1983, however it was purchased by Inver House and re opened being a major part of Haigs blends.
The name AnCnoc has been used to avoid confusion with the similar named Knockando distillery. Interestingly I've always considered the distillery to be in the Speyside region - just, however the bottle clearly says Highland.
