This Auchentoshan 18 year old has spent it's entire life in American Bourbon casks, giving this thrice distilled lowland whisky a complexity of citrus, green tea and toasted almonds. Smooth and delicate it has been bottled at 43%abv.
Auchentoshan Distillery is now on the outskirts of Glasgow, when the distillery was first built in 1823 it was some miles from the city. It is a traditional Lowland malt in that it is triple distilled, in fact it's the only Lowland Distillery left that triple distills. The spirit from the wash still emerges at 18%, 54% from the intermediate still and 81% from the spirit still. It has always been highly regarded.
Auchentoshan means 'Corner of the field' in Gaelic.
