Springbank distillery was built in 1825 on the site of an illegal still. An interesting, eccentric producer. The distillery has three stills (one wash, two spirit), the make being part triple distilled or perhaps more accurately two and a half times. They also have their own floor maltings, and on site bottling plant.
The whisky is not chill filtered before bottling. The distillery has amazingly remained within the same family since conception. A malt whisky of the highest calibre. Slightly briny and lightly peated in style. A malt in a class of it's own.
