Banff 1976 was matured in refill Sherry casks then bottled in 2008 at 43%. This expression is one of Gordon & Macphails Connoisseurs Choice range of whiskies.

Banff is a distillery with an unusually exciting past - it has experienced fires, explosions, bombing and other events. Opened in 1863, destroyed by fire in 1877, closed in 1932, opening briefly before closing for the Second World War (during which, on 16 August 1941, it was bombed by a Junkers 88, setting no 12 warehouse on fire).

Re opened after the war, then in 1959 workmen were working on a still when it blew up destroying a large part of the distillery, no one was hurt fortunately. Finally closed in 1983, demolished between 1985 and 1991.
