The Benriach 15 year old Madeira finish has matured in the traditional style in American bourbon barrels, this whisky is then ‘finished’ in ‘Henriques and Henriques’ Madeira barrels, sourced from the semi-tropical Portuguese island of Madeira, hundreds of miles off the coast of north-west Africa, in the Atlantic Ocean.
Just 400 six-packs have been made available world-wide, and the Madeira Finish is part of the first BenRiach 'Wood Finish Series', released November 2006.

Benriach distillery was built in 1898 in the shadow of sister, and better known distillery - Longmorn. It still retains it's own floor maltings, the smallest in Scotland, which produces 8% of the malt required for the distillery. It has an amazing history of survival. Mothballed two years after it opened it remained so till 1965, when it was re-equipped and production restarted, producing a lighter style of malt whisky.
After several changes of ownership, and a short period mothballed, the Benriach distillery was acquired in 2004 by an independent consortium. Whilst maintaining the best of the old traditions the Benriach are also bringing in some new and exciting expressions, including some interesting finishes and several peated expressions (which in fact harks back to the old Speyside style).
