The Brora 30 Year Old 2010 Release has matured in a mixture of American and European refill casks.
Medium Gold in colour, the nose gave vanilla and seashore. On the palate I got a creamy, buttery vanilla with hints of old oak and smoke, with water again creamy and subtle smoke and a hint of iodine, very soft.
3000 bottles were filled at 54.3%abv. Each bottle is numbered.
Brora distillery was origionally called Clynelish until 1968, when the old distillery was superseded by a more modern distillery. The old distillery single malt whisky is now called Brora after initially being called Clynelish 'B' (Clynelish 'A' being the new distillery). It is as Jim Murray says 'One of the most superb single malts to be found today' a statement I whole heartedly endorse. The distillery finally closed on March 17th 1983.
