The 10 year old Bushmills expression was first produced in 1987, made from unpeated malt before being triple distilled and then matured in both Sherry and Bourbon casks.
Bushmills is the oldest distillery in Ireland, dating from 1608 when it received it's licence to distil. By 1743 it was in the hands of smugglers then in 1784 it was again a licensed distillery.
In 1885 it caught fire but from then on the distillery continued to expand in the hands of Samuel Boyd, inspite of recessions, prohibition and wars. The distillery passed through the hands of Isaac Wolfson and English brewers Charringtons before becoming a subsidiary of Irish distillers and now belonging to Diagio.
