Caperdonich 1969 is one of the 'Lonach' collection of a vatting of under strength and over strength malt whiskies from a single distillery. The under strength whiskies are usually used for blends regardless of quality. The youngest malt used is the age shown.
This Caperdonich expression was distilled in 1969 and bottled in 2007 at 40.6%abv.
Caperdonich distillery was built in 1898 across the road from Glen Grant distillery and originally known as Glen Grant number 2. The stills were similar, plus both the barley and the water came from the same supply. Whisky went through a lean time and the distillery was closed in 1902 for no less than 63 years. Reopened as Caperdonich with four stills it is a major contributer to Chivas Regal blend.
