The Edradour 12 year old 'Caledonia' has been named after a song by Scottish singer Dougie MacLean who wrote the song in Brittany, France when he was homesick for his native Perthshire and the little whitewashed distillery of Edradour.
I visited Edradour distillery after visiting the vast ( by comparison)
Blair Athol distillery just down the road at Pitlochry. The first impression is it's size, it is the last surviving farm distillery in Britain. The stills too are the smallest legal stills in Scotland, the low wines holding a mere 947 gallons and the spirit still 48 gallons, filling 7 butts a week. The distillery was founded in 1837 on the site of an older distillery.
