The Glen Grant 1965 Single Malt Whisky was distilled in 1965 and bottled 2008 at 40%abv. The year is clearly printed on the label.

Glen Grant distillery was founded in 1840 by two brothers who were previously involved with illicit distilling (a common practice in the region). In 1861 electricity was installed, a start to the almost constant modernisation and growth of this famous distillery.

In 1973 the number of stills was increased from 4 to 6, and again in 1977 from 6 to 10.

Some of the older stills were until very recently coal fired. Glen Grant is a favourite in Italy, a result of good marketing in years gone by. It is also a major part of the Chivas Regal brands. Either sherry and or bourbon casks are used for maturing the spirit.
