The Jura Prophecy is a limited annual release year 1. It is profoundly peated, bottled without chill filtration at 46%abv to replicate the taste of 1938 when Charles Campbell left the Island. Blind in one eye from the Great war and having fallen on bad times. His goods were carried in a cart drawn by a single white horse. He was the last Campell to leave the Island - the sound of the cart on the track could be heard for miles!
The story goes back to the 1700's when the Campells of Jura evicted a wise old seer blessed with the sight of a third eye - the ability to see the future. Bristling with resentment, she prophesised that when the last Campell left Jura he would be would be one eyed and his belongings would be carried in a cart drawn by a white horse.
The seer's phrophecy had come to pass. Over time the story became legend.
The distillery was built in 1810, however there is a history of illicit distilling going back as far as 1502. It has, like many distilleries, had a roller coaster life. Rebuilt in 1885, then silent during depressions, wars and recessions and by 1960 it was almost a ruin. Then in the next three years it was resurrected with two stills, this created employment on the island. In 1978 two more stills were added and it's future seems secure. .
