The Laphroaig 27 year old was distilled in 1981 then aged for 27 years and bottled in 2008 at 56.6%. Matured in 5 of the finest Oloroso Sherry casks by Master Blender Robert Hicks and Distillery Manager John Campbell.
Laphroaig Distillery was established in 1815, one of the three most southerly of the Islay malts and the third most productive after Caol Ila and nearby Lagavulin.
The distillery has seven stills, three wash and no less than four spirit stills - three small and one larger one, installed instead of a further two small stills when capacity needed to be increased.
