The Longrow 14 year old is not chill filtered before bottling. This 14 year old expression has been bottled at 46%abv.
Longrow is a more heavily peated style of malt whisky from Springbank Distillery, Campbeltown. The style isn't readily recognizable as a Campbeltown malt being more Islay in style. The Longrow has been made on a once a year basis. Named after the long closed distillery (closed 1896) of that name, however one bonded warehouse remains to house the Springbank bottling plant. A slim connection to the name.
Springbank distillery was built in 1825 on the site of an illegal still. An interesting eccentric producer. It has three stills, the make is part triple distilled.
However for Longrow whisky only one wash and one spirit still are used.
They also use their own floor maltings and, with it's own on site bottling plant, it is one of only a few distilleries in Scotland to control the whole product in house.
