This Strathmill 1991 18 year old single malt whisky was distilled on the 7th October 1991 then matured in Bourbon cask number 4123 before being bottled on the 9th September 2010 at 46%abv by independent bottler Dewar Rattray.
171 bottles were filled of this rarely seen whisky.
My tasting notes are:-
Colour - Bright gold.
Nose - Dried fruits with a hint of cream.
Without water - Rich fruit cake with fudge and a delightful vein of vanilla.
With water - An intriguing mix of dried fruit, toffee and creme brulee.
Strathmill Distillery was built in 1891 under the name Glenisla - Glenlivet. Renamed by Gilbeys in 1895 as Strathmill. The stills were increased to four in 1968. Now run by Justerini & Brooks, the make being a major constituent of J&B Rare.
