The Talisker ten year old is full bodied, robust with a deep intensity, peaty with a long warming finish.
These 20 cl bottles give just a bit more than a taste and represent good value for money.
Talisker distillery was built in 1830 and opened in 1831, it is the only distillery on Skye. The distillery has no pier and the full casks were floated out to waiting ships. Initally the malt whisky was triple distilled, this ceased in 1928, and the maltings closed in 1972 and were knocked down. There are five stills two wash and three spirit, the distillery having expanded in 1900. It was partly rebuilt after a fire in 1960 when the stillman forgot to shut the manhole to one of the stills, Brora Distillery however took up the 'slack' and produced, for a period a peatier style of whisky.
